Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Op. 43 Variation No.18 arranged for piano solo

In 1934 Sergei Rachmanininoff composed a set of Variations on a Theme of Paganini for piano and orchestra, based on Niccolò Paganini's Caprice No. 24 in A minor for solo violin. This popular piano solo arrangement of the 18th variation has been transcribed from the original orchestral score and adapted for pianists of Advanced Intermediate Level. The 18th variation is the most well-known and is a popular request to be played at wedding ceremonies.

It is a joy to be able to "grip" this beautiful music by playing it with your own hands. With this sheet, Rach comes within reach of an amateur. Well arranged, in the oringinal key D-flat major. The fast successive big chords with many fingers are avoided, but the essence of the melody and the orchestral accompaniment is preserved and have nice low bass tones. The only thing missing is the fingering. But an intermediate pianist should be able to find out for him/herself. The resolution/readability of the printing is good.Charles

Wonderful Transcription

Much of Rachmaninoff's piano music requires an advanced technique but this wonderful transcription makes this beautiful piece of music more accessible. As a professional wedding pianist, it's great to have it in my repertoire and it's such a delight to play.Wedding Pianist

Lovely arrangement, key it's in makes it challenging but well worth it. I don't normally have enough fingers to play Rachmaninoff but can manage this.Anon
